Lake Bled is probably one of the most stunning places I have ever been to. Now I only went in summer but I believe it is just as magical in Winter when it is covered in snow. I wanted to share with you guys my top 5 tips for getting the most out of a trip to Lake Bled.
Stay in Jazz Hostel and Apartments
I would highly recommend Jazz. We stayed in two apartments which meant we could cook our breakfast and dinner if we so wished. We dealt with Jani from the time we arrived to the time we left. He made us feel so at home - he recommended things for us to do, organised trips for us, set us up with our own taxi driver and constantly gave us advice on all things Bled! The apartments were very clean and the hostel holds a massive all you can eat bbq every second or third evening which was great fun. There is also a café on the premises where we could eat and grab an ice cream. 10/10.
The Vintgar gorge
Perhaps one of the nicest spots of our whole Inter-rail holiday was the Vintgar gorge. We took some Instagram worthy photos which is always a plus! You walk around the gorge via paths specifically created for tourists and end up at a beautiful waterfall. The whole place is beautiful and you get discounted entry fee as a student.

Rent a row boat/SUP
We rented a row boat and headed to the beautiful island in the middle of the lake. This all sounded lovely until we discovered rowing is a lot harder than it looks… If I was to go again I would rent a SUP (stand up paddleboard) as they seemed to be a lot more fun. Going over to the island is a must, it is a great chance to view Bled’s scenery from another angle and a picnic on the island is pure heaven. The row boats/SUP can be rented all along the river with no booking in advance required.

Alpine Slide
Ever wondered what black ski slopes do when they have no snow on them? Let me tell you, they turn them into one massive steep slide! Probably one of the scariest moments of my life but thrilling all the same! You get a ski lift up to the top of the slope, go into a little cart and then fly down the slope, thank god there were brakes on the carts I tell you! A super experience and something you won’t forget!

Adventure centre
Lake Bled is known for its mad activities and the adventure centre does not disappoint! We opted for white water rafting and canyoning on two separate days. It was a great mix up from our usual inter-rail activities and the instructors make the day great fun and memorable.
